The studio
One person. One build at a time.
Matanah is run by Tom Metcalfe from Cumbria. There is no account manager, no junior doing the writing, and no queue. The person you speak to on the first call is the person building it and the person who answers when you ring about it in a year.
The name
Matanah means gift.
It is the Hebrew word for a gift, and the logo is exactly that: a name painted by hand in cream, with a stroke of gold leaf laid underneath it. The whole studio comes out of that one image. Something made by hand, warm and slightly wonky, then framed and lit like it belongs on a wall.
That is what a good website is for a business that deserves one. Not a brochure. A thing you are quietly proud to hand over.
Every colour on this site was sampled out of that logo file, pixel by pixel: the blue-black ground, the cream of the paint, the gold of the leaf. Nothing else was added.
The honest version
How AI is actually used.
It writes a great deal of the code and it generates the films. That is why a build that would traditionally take three months and a team takes six to eight weeks and one person, and why the price is £12,000 rather than £40,000.
What it does not do is decide anything. It does not choose the design direction, pick what your business should lead with, or write the sentence a buyer reads first. And it never invents. If a testimonial, a certificate number or a client name cannot be verified, it does not go on the site. That rule has cost real content on real builds and it holds.
Anything generated is generated on purpose and said so. Your real photos always win over a generated one, which is why the first job on every build is harvesting everything real you already have.

What this studio is not claiming.
Most studio sites open with a client count, a years-trading number and a wall of logos. Here is the real position.
- Two builds. One live, one in progress. There is no back catalogue and this page is not going to pretend there is.
- No testimonials yet. Nothing invented fills the gap. When there is a real quote from a real client, it goes up word for word with their name on it.
- No star rating. There is no Google profile yet, so there is no rating to show and none is implied.
- No client results. The live build is new. When there are enquiry numbers worth publishing, they will be published with the date they were measured next to them.
- What there is instead: a finished site you can open, measured on the same tool Google uses, and the whole method written out on this site so you can judge the thinking before you spend anything.
Say hello
Cumbria, working anywhere.
The studio is in Cumbria. The work is not. Everything runs on calls, screens and a permanent link, so where the business is has never mattered.
